chickweed
Does anyone dislike pigeons as much as I do? They splatter the eglu and the surrounding area by perching in the branches of a nearby tree. I'm aware they carry disease so I have to disinfect the area regularly. Their faeces have damaged the paintwork on the car, pooing as they fly past. We have had to have the TV aerial moved so that when they perch on it, their faeces don't pile up by our front door. Two have even fallen down the chimney (not at the same time btw ) causing a fall of soot. What a mess . The chimneys all have those wire bird repellent thingies now. Seriously thinking of getting an air rifle

lillybettybabs
Not sure if you live in a town area or not but i think you can get some help from some councils if you do. If you lived closer id happily come round with our air rifle.
surfer_chicken
Yes! We can't sow anything straight out into the garden because they eat them. We have loads of them around here because one of the neighbours were gifted a dove cote & pigeons a while back and they decided they preferred the trees to the cote Luckily the chickens scare them off, but they still hang around in the other neighbours gardens and on the roof. LolaLayla
I was told on a food hygiene course that they carry 37 diseases I am fed up with them too. I tried to reseed what I laughingly call our lawn and they ate the seeds
chickweed
These are wood pigeons, not those feral pigeons you see in towns and cities, so it looks like it has to be an air rifle. The local grey squirrel population seems to be on the increase, and they are getting far too cheeky for my liking, so they had better watch out too. jennym
Sorry to hop on an old thread here but I missed it first time around. We seem to be having a bumper crop of squirrels and pigeons this year. Or maybe I'm just noticing it more because of a) the chooks and b) all the new veg I've planted this year, which keeps getting dug up. Of course it can't be the chooks doing the digging
