bouldercroft
I'm home in Liverpool for a week and I saw on the news that the Cheshire Show is on! Excitedly I went on line to see when the poultry show is on...and it was today Probably a blessing in disguise as I'm sure you'd all see me on the news trying to smuggle chickens back through US customs
stehaggan
Hi bouldercroft, I was there today , tbh you didn't miss much, we struggled to find it at first as it was far out if the way behind all of the expensive cars being sOld right at the back. It was rather small and there were no chicken products on sale , no feeds etc as I had expected. I definitely think the show is not a huge chicken lover. Other than that I can't wait to go back next year- I was full up after all of the samples in the food tent and also had my teeth whitened for free
Egluntyne
You should have let us know you were coming over, Bouldercroft! We could have arranged an 'impromptu' Omlet meet!

bouldercroft
just got home from the show - lots of cute pygmy goats, sheep and pigs but a serious lack of chickens! I did find these lovely orps in the rare breed tent... photo by jewilk71, on Flickr

Chortle Chook
Those Orps really are beautiful. Funny how at some of these shows there is little chicken presence. Probably elf and safety At the Thame small show earlier this year there was a huge banner saying 'Poultry' and underneath one chicken and some bog standard feeding dishes
CallyChook
Well we went and enjoyed the day on Tuesday! Personally I like that the Cheshire isnt too full of marketting and gubbins, otherwise I end up coming away utterly penniless and trolling round with bags of stuff I otherwise wouldnt have bought!! Here's Ethel getting prepped for the show last week My decorated egg for the show - I came second!! front back then Ethel came second in her class!! for our first ever show I was so proud of my girl! Mina the silkie didn't come anywhere but she looked so pretty, I love her immensely and think that she looks fab after her baths! Any my actual eggs didnt do anything either but the egg class entries went from one end of the marquee to the other, at least 30 entries in the classes I entered! witzend
the girl I'm getting my chickens off has just about cleared the board at the North Yorks and Cheshire Shows but she's told me that one of her main winners (too many - I can't recall which one it was!) had 2 wing feathers broken after judging and whilst in the top pen by some IDIOT who has now sabotaged it from re-showing! Well done to everyone who entered - whether or not you won!!
Chortle Chook
Hey, CallyChook what a beautiful Poland !! and I love your pretty egg too My Silkies send happy chirps to Mina. They too are much loved, look sweet after a bath but wouldn't get all that far in a show
