Do you line the bottom of the tray with newspaper or anything or do you just let the dropping fall on the plastic? I've been lining mine but I see in photos some folks don't and I wondered why. Thanks guys!

I don't bother, as the newspaper becomes soggy and smelly. I sprinkle a bit of Aubiose in the tray, and empty it all onto the compost heap.

 

A quick swish with a hose pipe and it cleans up nicely.

I use newspaper and change it alternate days. Doesn't go soggy

I fill mine with wood shavings and the pink disinfectant powder whose name escapes me

I fill to about a half inch with Aubiose mixed with some Diatom and sometimes when I'm feeling decadent a couple of drops of lavender or tea tree oil, and I fill the nest with this too. I remove the poo and dirty clumps every day and change it every 1-2 weeks when necessary.

Hmm, all good ideas. I'm trying no newspaper today. I also put my wood shavings and poop in the compost bin so I thought no newspaper might be easier. I only change mine weekly but it's never soggy. I guess it's because we live in such a dry state.

I use a bit of aubiose, like Egluntyne - it just stops it sticking to the tray.

I have to find this aubiose stuff. I keep hearing about it, but I haven't seen any. I'll go to the large feed store in town soon.

Newspaper, Sunday times is an exact fit

Thick layer auiobise, poo pick every morning and empty and clean every 2 weeks.

No mess, smells or sogginess.
