My run is finally complete!!

Recommended Posts

After months of work my wir is finally finished!!

It was finished(ish) ages ago but we just didn't have a roof so it wasn't fox proof, but its the first week of the summer holidays so I've been out making it fox proof!!

I know it's not brilliant , but it works :D

This was a week ago..

This is today..

I made the table from an old table top (cut to size) and added legs and made a ramp, hopefully they will learn how to use it!!

As soon as I put the eglu on the table, blacky jumped straight up and sat on the nest! (broody)

Oh and I made this little feeding station after I took the photos, saves me £15 so I'm happy!! I just hooked one of the anti-dig skirts from the eglu run onto my table.

It's been boiling today, said 31deg on my thermometer in the wir!! i put some ice in their water and been giving some cucumber. They all had their wings held out and their mouth slightly open, but I checked in the sticky and it's just a way for them to cool down (thanks egluntyne!)

Smashing :dance::clap:

It may get quite warm under the pvc roof so what about hanging your run cover up to make some dark shade. I bought a cheap groundsheet which worked well hooked with bungees to the top of the sides, then made a fabric one :D

I got S hooks from ikea which I hooked in the wire and put a little bungee on which connected to a loop in the groundsheet. Guess you've got to be inventive. The groundsheet went across the run horizontally. See if I can find a picture.

Sorry I lied. I put cuphooks into the wood at top and hooked the bungees to them. Not got any pictures of the groundsheet but this is the shade I have at present which may give you the idea. It's like a groundsheet in that it has loops at edge and corners.

Thanks Plum that's brilliant, I've got some cup hooks left from which I used for the ramp so I will use them :D I think the heat wave is over and we're forecast rain tomorrow so I think I'm safe for a while! Thanks again :)
