Hello

I have just got my hens and am keeping a shallow bowl of water and another of pellets in for the two shyer birds who are not really getting to the food and water much due to bossy other two! The water bowl is only quite small and fits snugly in the corner of the cube over just one corner of one droppings tray. I know they haven't spilt water out as hardly any is going but when I am emptying both dropping trays they are soaking wet. I am putting newspapers on the bottom of the trays but I could wring the water out? My worry is the cube is leaking but I can't see from where. Any obvious problems other people have been able to fix? Should I get back to Omlet? Thank you. :? You lot are really becoming my chicken lifeline :)

Hi, this has been reported before at times and may be due to not having the cube on level ground so if it is tilting slightly forward it will change the way the water runs down the channels. May be worth checking or trying with a small wedge under the front of the stand :D

Thank you for advice. Will check cube. Have new dilemma now. One of my brand new hens who is 16 weeks old has developed sneezing and slight rattle on breathing. I haven't seen her eat or drink but I am not watching her all day. Never having had chickens before I am concerned, but one of the other new ones who is 19 weeks old had sneezing and slight runny nose when we got her home on Saturday. She seems fine now. I am due take very poorly one to vet this pm but wondered how she will be received when she gets back to others. I don't want to make things even harder for her. :(

Hi taking her away for an hour or two shouldn't make any difference but vet may suggest keeping her seperate. If it was me I'd ask for treatment for the lot. Often the stress of a move brings on a bug which happened with my first new ones but luckily resolved by itself. Good luck
