Mercedes55
Having bought the Silver Laced Wyandotte and the Gold Spangled Hamburgh who may or may not be one of those, we also got a couple of hybrids from a different breeder. More impressed with this second breeder as not only were they hens that he had raised but he had all the documentation to show they have been immunised and seemed more knowledgeable than the other place, which I doubt we would use again. auntielizzie
Your Rhode Sussex/Sussex Star is just like my Bessie She's my favourite ( don't tell Betty ). She's very sweet and very "normal" (compared to Betty who is a maniac ). Little bit shy though - doesn't really like to be picked up and gets a little bit spooked by things (such as corn on the cob - she really wanted to eat it like Betty was, but it was scary ). We thought she was a White Leghorn, but it's been one of those weekends when I don't know one hen from another
Redwing
She looks like a white leghorn based hybrid, she is really lovely, super
Mercedes55
One of them laid an egg Was quite surprised as didn't think they were old enough. I am guessing it's the bigger hen, egg is quite small though and it was broken a bit at one end.

Mercedes55
She's laid every day since we got her on Saturday. The eggs are quite small, so assuming she has just started laying. We have now moved her in with the big girls and she is laying them in the nest rather than on the floor of the run. Amazing how quickly they learn
