I have 2 extra children from last night til I dont know when - poss Sat night, poss Sun, poss even Mon. nrly 14 yr old niece and 10 yr old nephew. I hope all 4 will amuse themselves with minmal input from me quite honestly, but the downside is it wont be quite the lazy days I had in mind... oh well there's always next week for that! beach chick Posted August 4, 2011 Share Posted August 4, 2011 *Ummmm* it's going to be raining next week what all week????????? that's outrageous. however we can move to Plan B - clear out the playroom and turn it into teen sitting room thus meaning mr beach chick and I can reclaim the living room proper - that's the theory anyway. I have oldest lying on the sofa giggling at something she's watching on tinternet, and youngest and 2 cousins cooking in the kitchen - felt it best to vacate the room actually and will survey the damage later! sage Posted August 4, 2011 Share Posted August 4, 2011 Just had a email from my brother who is somewhere in the med with his wife 2 kids and our parents. He wants me to have his kids Monday & Tuesday so they can get the washing & ironing done . Me thinks he is taking the piff. They have had nearly 2 weeks of sun with kids in the kids club in the morning, our parents have them in the afternoon for a few hours and then put them to bed leaving Brother & Wife to enjoy a drink & late evenings. Neither of them go back to work till Thursday. beach chick Posted August 4, 2011 Share Posted August 4, 2011 sage and claret, this is kind of why I have the 2 extra children... which I am a bit harrumphy about because their mother will not tell me when she is coming to collect them!! I thought it was Wed-Sat night, but she's not sure... I'd quite like to know really! why do we let people get away with things like this?! however, a bit of a result here - they are going to take the dog out for me because they think a walk in the rain will be 'fun'. I can think of a lot of things it will be, but fun is not one of them (insert evil mother emoticon here). still, kids happy, dog happy, what's not to like?! She said " No cooking for 2 weeks, bliss" They have been marred for 20 years this year and she has yet to cook a meal. 5 years ago she got a new kitchen and the instructions are still in a plastic bag in the oven. I'd be rather unhappy too at the extra children with no time limits; this happened to me a year or so back when the mother (a single working mum like me) of one of Rosie's friends decided - without asking me - that her daughter could spend all of the Christmas holidays at my house. No consultation, nor offer to pay for the food I was cooking for her I came home one day to find that the lass had cajoled Rosie into doing things that are strictly off-limits and left the house in a real mess including nail polish on the loo seat and on my sofa I packed said child straight into my car and took her back home. I was fuming, not with Rosie but with her friend's mother for assuming that I would provide free childcare while I was working just as she was. beach chick Posted August 8, 2011 Share Posted August 8, 2011 well, after a big family lunch yesterday (guess who shopped and cooked? yup, that's right) all guests had gone by 6.30 last night - and I did not get a thank you from the visiting children. harrumph.
