Seagazer
It can be tough on your shoulders, a couple of our slightly older youth GB players have tendon problems in their shoulders and arms but that's more from the polo playing which is really a very powerful contact sport when you watch them play. I ache in places I never knew I'd ache and thats just from pootling around on a lake!! I was hoping it would work on my bingo wings but apparently if your arms ache then you're paddling wrong. It should be from the shoulders.
The Dogmother
The polo is a bit like Australian Rules Football on water... very physical!
Seagazer
The polo is a bit like Australian Rules Football on water... very physical! Eggsactly! The amount of people wandering around with fingers and arms strapped up at the National Championships was amazing but they all love it. It is very addictive. The Dogmother
The Ex once raced with four stitches in his forehead after head butting a rock while upside down under water just an hour earlier. I think it was a sort of badge of honour
Seagazer
Yikes! That was brave. It does worry me a bit but I think the health, social (he's mixing with people of all ages and walks of life) and activity part of it outweighs the accidents. beach chick
my plans for a quiet week have gone out of the window... very old friend (known each other since we were 10, but havent seen each other for 7 years) came down yesterday with her 2 kids - her 2 and my 2 are now New Best Friends, and we did an awful lot of reminiscing over rather a lot of wine - had a wonderful time. they left about half an hour ago. tomorrow we are going for our fish pedicure, then sister-in-law is leaving her 2 kids with me til at least Sat night (not ideal actually) but I guess the kids can entertain themselves, just gives me another 2 extra mouths to feed/beds to sort out. (it would be different if I had invited them at a time to suit me, but she has invited them because it suits her - a bit harrumph about it actually). NEXT week I am vegging out. Seagazer
Will be interesting to see what you think of the fish pedicure. Not sure if I'd like it or not.
beach chick
seagazer I am not sure about it either!! on so many levels... will it tickle, are the fish being looked after, will I have the courage to go through with it? our local big town has a place where you can watch people having it done, rows of benches with fish tanks in front and I have to say it did freak me out a bit!! TheGirlsMum
Eldest is spending 4 days this week helping her Dad to teach people to sail, she is now very healthy looking with her hair becoming more blonde each day. She is driving al size of power boat and earning her assistant instructor's ticket at the grand age of 12. So youngest and I are having to meet them and picnic on the beach each day...such a hardship so youngest spends the afternoons crabbing. We then have two weeks off to slob and back to it for the final two weeks, it is her choice to do it her father gets paid for it.
Chucky Mama
Will be interesting to see what you think of the fish pedicure. Not sure if I'd like it or not. seagazer I am not sure about it either!! on so many levels... will it tickle, are the fish being looked after, will I have the courage to go through with it? our local big town has a place where you can watch people having it done, rows of benches with fish tanks in front and I have to say it did freak me out a bit!! I had one with a friend and we were the only ones there as good as screaming. We did manage to calm ourselves eventually and did enjoy the experience. I am not sure the other people there enjoyed us being there though
beach chick
but chucky mama, promise me your feet are now as soft as a baby's bottom!! I reckon sharks might actually be better than garufa fish on my rhino feet....
Chucky Mama
Oh they were awesome afterwards, really soft for days. I just had to resist the urge to swat the fish off my feet as initially it felt like insects crawling up them
beach chick
oh dear I'm not sure I'm going to like it then! however I have booked the deluxe £20 version which includes a foot massage afterwards - the kids are getting the basic £12 'get your feet eaten by a fish' version
Chucky Mama
You do thankfully get used to it. I think as your feet soften little in the water the sensation changes and is enjoyable
Seagazer
The thought of it makes me feel a bit queasy actually. I'll carry on with my ped-egg I think! Enjoy!

The Dogmother
Rosie and I had one as a holiday treat last week - the first minute or so felt odd but after that I quite enjoyed it, but then I'm not really ticklish.
chickencam
I have rediculously ticklish feet, so i don't think itwould be for me
beach chick
it was hilarious! oldest went first, couldnt keep her feet still so the fish didnt really get a go - her body language was a picture, she was poised for flight throughout. youngest giggled all the way through while her sister caught it all on the camera and is planning to add it to facebook and youtube in a bid for viral status. then it was me. VERY disconcerting at first but then it just felt like a TENS machine to me, although I wasnt keen when they went between my toes. I couldnt look tho - it was ok looking at the fish on the girls' feet, but looking at them on my feet was a complete no. anyway my feet are not smoother than a baby's bottom but nor are they as rhinoceros like as before, so I reckon I will get at them with the ped egg and maybe have another fish ped with a girlfriend in Sept when the kids are back at school... Seagazer
Well it can't have been too bad if you're going to have another go.
beach chick
no it wasnt bad, a bit weird... but on the other hand its not often I spend half an hour just sitting down and not DOING anything so worth it for that!!

beach chick
Ditto although we only had 15 minutes and my fish gave up halfway through weird that! mine did too, tho they did come back for more - I think if someone walks past they zip away so obv sensitive to movement/light. I did ask about fish welfare and was told about filtration systems and feeding tropical fish food over and above our dead skin.
The Dogmother
Yes, now I think of it, they did move off when someone walked past. It was an experience but I have to say that my feet are no softer than when I use a pumice at home. Perhaps it would be good for someone who has lots of hard skin or has problems reaching their feet to do it themselves.
