Movicol

Recommended Posts

Has anyone used this? I just want to know how long it takes to work. DD is dreadfully 'bunged up'. She has tried eating oats, drinking loads of water, taking big doses of vitamin C, Senna, Fybrogel and now, after a consultation with the GP she has taken 2 sachets of Movicol and is feeling really uncomfortable. She has now gone off babysitting and has forgotten her phone! :(

lactulose can make you really gripey and not much good when really bunged up. Movicol should do it and encourage her to drink lots but diet, fluids and exercise are best prevention.

Hope she's better soon its miserable and can cause so many other problems like headaches, backache, bad moods etc.,

I can really recommend Ortisan fruits and fibre cubes - just start with half a cube and, if that doesn't work, try a whole one. I get them at the health food shop, or you can get them online, and they are a natural way of sorting out the problem which has worked every time for everyone I know who has tried it. They taste lovely too.

I find movical starts working on about the 4th sachet

best things I find are peas and sweetcorn then plums and tomatoes un skined as it's the skin that contains the 'cleaner' to be polite they all work because the human body wasn't designed to digest them ia what my doc told me. also cut out the white bread best man made plug

IBS for 5 years

I still find that Lactulose works well - it was prescribed in the maternity ward on both occasions and was effective but gentle; I guess it depends on how much you take. The GP reccommended this for ES too, when he came off a course of Movicol in case of relapse - which hasn't so far been needed, thank goodness! GP also said that it is something that can be taken without the body becoming 'reliant' on it if you need to use something fairly frequently or several times in a short period.

Trust all is now well, tho, and things have resolved!!!!
