Omlet cube and run

Have just finished baling and wrapping 80 bales from our 2 acres of set aside paddock tonight. A fantastic job, hubby has man handles all 80 bales twice so far and we need to move them and re-stack them again tomorrow.

 

This is a great achievement for us, it will keep the ponies fed all winter and there is time for more growth on the pasture for the autumn so it means we have got things right this year.

 

We are borrowing a trailer next week to pick up the house for the pigs and will take the opportunity to visit Mole Valley farmers (much cheaper than Cornwall Farmers) for fertiliser for the paddocks as advised by the farmer that wrapped our bales. Wish us luck.

This reminds me of the time we saw a man in a tractor who was stacking round bales of something on a trailer, frantically pursuing one of them down a sloping field

 

Actually, do be careful if transporting them. Yesterday we saw a massive low trailer of straw which had just over turned in a village going round quite a tight corner. The tractor only had 3 wheels on the ground, I think the driver and pedestrians were extremely lucky.

Just moved and re-stacked all 8o under tarpaulin, moved each one with a sack trolley, will sleep well tonight.

Brilliant well done, we had our field mowed but there just wasnt enough to even start to gather it up

 

I am a welsh pony fan, lovely to see a mention of a section C, they arent as common as the others

I was convinced we weren't going to get many bales this year even though we had over seeded part of the paddocks, so I was really surprised to get as many as we did. We only got 66 bales last year so a bumper crop this year and ere learning. Preparing to fertilise from next week.

Oooo well done. We are hoping to get approx 400 bales off our fields. That's what it has been estimated at. Did you do large bale or small bale haylage?

Just for info - it is the Welsh Cob ( horse/ pony) Festival on Sunday 14th at Aberaeron if anyone is really mad on these lovely horses / ponies.

At 35-40kg a time the small bales are quite heavy enough to man handle. That's some serious land youv'e got at 400 bales. Enjoy
