busy bee
I expect this has been discussed some other time on the forum but I cannot seem to find anything with the search. Do you think organic feed is better than some of the normal feed? Do you think the hens seem better on it, do their eggs taste nicer? Just wondering if it worth the extra cost or not too much difference in it? Views appreciated. Thanks
squiffs
I used omlet organic feed to start, but since switching to regular marriages layers pellets I've gotten more eggs!
Chucky Mama
I don't eat much organic food myself and half of the things that my chickens find around the garden (including frogs ) are not organic so I feed non organic food.
Henergy
Mine have been on the Omlet Organic Feed but postage is too expensive so I've now switched to pellets from The Organic Feed Company. Can't tell you if they like it as its too early. I'm not an organic eater myself but it just feels better to be using it. I do take the point though that they eat non organic food too, so I could never say they were Organic Eggs !
jennym
I don't feed organic, and I have plenty of yummy tasty eggs (just had one poached for brekky ). It would be interesting to do a blind test - organic vs non-organic - and see if there's a difference in taste. I suspect not!
busy bee
Thanks for your responses, thats interesting that they laid more eggs not eating it. Also very interesting that they also eat frogs My goodness never thought they would eat them
Olly
I changed to non-organic earlier this year, and haven't noticed any difference in the egg quality. I used to buy organic feed because I try to buy organic food when I can, and wanted to support that. As others have said, I couldn't call the eggs organic though. I changed over because the organic ones went up so much - nearly twice the price of the others.
