Have been speaking to one of my mums work friends who keeps and shows chickens. He has mentioned the above product. He says he puts a few drops into their water and it keeps them healthy and protects from illness etc, has anyone else heard this? or anything bout this product? he swears by it?!

Its not something I'd try, its not intended for that use. If too much is used it could put them off drinking which is altogether more unhealthy!!

 

If the birds are kept in clean, uncrowded runs and coops and have a normal balanced diet they should be healthy enough with a good immune system - I dont see the point of adding lots of stuff to their food or water, I just add a proper poultry tonic as and when

I always put cloves on garlic in there water as standard, sometimes some poulty tonic or ACV but only if they need it, has anyone heard bad or good? people hwo have used it or know people who have?

There are those who use it to treat sour crop, but it is a very powerful disinfectant and isn't licensed for use internally. I wouldn't recommend it either.

Nor me. There's no point in dosing them with stuff unless they need it; if you feel that your hens are unhealthy then perhaps have a look at their quarters, space allocated in the run, and make sure to disinfect the ground in their run with BioDri or similar on a regular basis.

mostin's vet recommended this for a bad and recurrent dose of sour crop. Worked very well for that.
