cavysqueak
Today I was cleaning the when Agatha decided to start alarm calling. I wandered over to see what the problem was & she just kept on going .... bok, bok, bok, BACAAAK. She wasn't looking at the fence (which is what she does if a cat scares her), or looking at the sky (which she does if a big bird scares her) ... then I realised that she was only calling out as the last twice she's alarm called I've given them a handful of mealworms! What a cheeky girl. She now thinks that if she makes the alarm call I'll feed her treats! Needless to say I walked away & carried on with my cleaning. She carried on for about 5 minutes (goodness knows what the neighbours will think was happening) then she gave up. All of this time my other three ladies were dust bathing in amongst the bushes without a care in the world. So what do your girls try to train you to do? Space Chick
Brilliant They are very good at training humans are chickens. My little Gwen realised that if she jumped on the wall, walked around then jumped onto the roof of one of the WIRs, I would panic that she would end up down the woods and would give her corn However, when I decided NOT to give in, she decided to walk from the WIR, jump down onto my neighbours fence and walk down that. I then panicked big time, and got the corn However, Gwen had pushed her little feathery luck too far.... I have now put an additional plastic fence on the top of my wall so she can't jump up anymore! Ha! Take that Gwen... I am top chook and make up the rules, not you!!
blueandwhite
Phoebe has taken to pecking my legs (luckily I always wear trousers!) to get my attention - just in case I haven't noticed her or have forgotten to give her a treat. counturchickens
Ours peck on the back door, then if get no attention Dora lets out a screech, so I think they've been attacked. I fall for it every time!
chickenopolis
Dolly usually makes her way to the kitchen, jumps over the stop and then stands on my feet. Either that or she stands behind me and pecks my trousers. Then when I say "what do you want" - she squeaks! And then usually poos on the floor, and then steps in it and wanders around the kitchen getting into all the low places, so end up following her saying "don't step in it". What the neighbours must think!!!!
jackian
My 3 girls when they are FR round the garden spot me in the living room and sit by the patio doors tapping on the glass and then crying like little girls...hoping I will give in and throw some chard out for them . They give up after a few minutes. In the evening they all sit on the step by the patio doors pecking away until I am on my knees chatting to them through the glass telling them how lovely they are. Leeloo
I'm worried that my DH is creating a monster. He has been off work for a few days and he has been tossing the hens BOSS in the mornings. He heard Zoe squawking after Sadie laid an egg so he went out and tossed in some seed to get her to shut up. She hadn't been making noise after the other hen laid for the last few weeks so I'm wondering if she was just trying to get a treat! I told him not to reward her noise-making earlier this week, but apparently, he didn't listen!
