surfer_chicken Posted November 1, 2011 Share Posted November 1, 2011 I went out into the garden as soon as I got home, as I always do, to say hello to the chickens and do a head count, only today there were only 4 out of five chickens in the run- Fatty, my cockerel, was nowhere to be seen. I could hear him and it sounded like he was in next doors garden, but their fences are about 5 and a half foot and I'm 5'1", so I got my boyfriend to look over- still no sign Eventually we discovered he had somehow jumped onto one of the fences and fallen into the gap between the two and it was too small a gap for him to turn around. It was nearly 5pm by this point and getting dark I had dig under his feet with a trowel so he could turn around, then coax him along to a loose panel in the fence to the neighbours garden thinking I could then go round and ask for my chicken back. Of course they had just gone out! As Fatty was in their garden and all the other chickens were heading to bed I jumped over the fence (with difficulty) grabbed him and had to jump back over (with even more difficulty!). Thankfully he's back with his girls in the eglu now. Certainly not the evening I was hoping for, I wanted to relax before my entry exam for uni tomorrow!
