Buff Orpington cockerel - Happy ending

Recommended Posts

We took the cockerel formally known as 'princess aurora' back to the breeder who confirmed that he is a boy. She was happy to have him back to breed from and he was settling in nicely to the cockerel pen. We swapped him for a couple of new girls - a bluebelle and a pied sussex :)

He has now been renamed Prince Philip, we met his Dad as well and will hopefully take on one of his chicks next season.

so even when it all seems to have gone pear-shaped... there's always morehens to go round.

Just wanted to say thank you, I've had so much great advice throughout this whole saga and it's amazing how much chickeny knowledge and experience is out there

Our new girls are settling in really well, we put them in after dark and the following morning there were a few minor scuffles but nothing really and they all snuggle up together at night now. My little 5 year old very quickly got over losing 'Prince Philip' and has named her new Bluebelle - 'Cinderella'. We then decided on Princess Jasmine for the Pied Sussex. You can telll I have 3 young girls for children!

The girls look much more settled now the cockeral has gone and have even started laying again which is good, makes us realise it was the right decision. He was an amazing bird having gone from an 8 week old fluffy bundle to a truly magnificent boy.
