Olly
I don't know whether you live in the country or not ... prey caught by a fox (or a stoat/weasel or any other predator) can make a really horrible noise. Owl is a distinct possibility though, they don't all go 'tu-whit-tu-whoo' like the ones in Harry Potter!
red
are there young cubes about this time of year??? Oh how exciting! "young cubes" ... will they grow into fully fledged cubes? If so, will you bag me an orange one

BeckyBoo
Little owls make a noise described as "puppy like yelps" and when they really get going that's screechy but you normally hear it at dusk. Foxes mating sound like people screaming (often gets reported to the police!) But I don't know what noise young cubes make, but I'd like a green one to go alongside my orange once they're matured.
