starboyhull
We made the decision to let them out of the run today...... Attached is a pic for you all.......I thought it would be way more traumatising for us that it is lol, they seem quite happy pecking around and nothing flying over head is bothering them......The firestation tannoy made them flap a little but thats about all Its very exciting letting them freerange for the first time. We also decided on names, Betty, Hilder and Wilhelmina...... Karl

Couperwife
they look very chilled and happy. how long will the lawn stay like that for if they are let out?
starboyhull
They are Black rocks from the Mirfield hatchery in Scotland, originally.....We got them from One Stop Poultry shop in Belton, near Grantham...... The people there were really good, unfotunately due to the awful weather conditions when we got them they had picked 3 out for us, cant wait to go again to see what others they have, was a shame really cos their place looks stunning...... starboyhull
I have just been watching them scratching at my grass, its took onths to get it right and I bet in a few weeks it will be back to how it used to look lol Well as long as they are happy then the grass will recover in time.......I hope Karl
Couperwife
we haven't let ours free range yet. couperman is terrified that they will go into next doors beautifully manicured garden and destroy it like a whirlwind I dont mind , I'd love them to traumatise next doors killer leopard that miaws. Jill
Your grass is just too long and lush - that won't last long, you had better keep the photo to remind you how nice it was.

starboyhull
Are the Miss Pepperpots the same hybrid as Black rocks??? They do have really nice colours, the one on the left of the picture has a lot of green o her when the sun shines, looks totally different in different light...... Hen Watch
Not sure if they are the same. I'm sure someone will be along soon on the forum to advise. My 2 Miss Pepperpots came from Omlet. Here is Henrietta (bornw/black) and Nigella who is no longer with us (she was almost completely black and had green tinges in a certain light).
