Minnie&Moose
Have a hankering for a couple of Scots Dumpies but wondered whether getting in and out of the Cube might be difficult for them given their short legs. Anybody got any experience/thoughts re this please?
Ain't Nobody Here
Sparkysmum has Scots Dumpies - I'll alert her to your post .
Parsley
I have a bantam Dorking / Scots Dumpy cross with little legs who waddles her way around and she manages just fine. She is a lovely hen, always very happy.
sparkysmum
Hi M&M, there must be something in the air as I'm also contemplating a cube. I'm pretty sure the dumpies will manage fine. Mine fly up on to tables, perches and the wheelie bins However if you're not sure you could always put a wooden ramp up from the ground as Karlotta has suggested I do for my bantams I love my dumpies, they are quiet, gentle docile birds and tolerate our vile Scottish winters well. They mixed in well with the rest of our ladies. I'm sure you'll love them too. Alli x
emmastar
Not to sure on the breed myself but my pekin x japanese have stumps for legs and can manage my cube ladder with no help at all and they are tiny !
Minnie&Moose
Thanks for all your replies. Sparkysmum - your Dumpies sound lovely. I've always loved the look of them (weirdly, I first came across them when working in East Africa, even though I spent my teens in Scotland! In fact, we lived in Braco - so not very far away from Dunblane).
