Lesley
susan, did I hear rightly yesterday.... that the prize money for the Ladies is now the same as for the Men? I know they've been fighting for it for years - but what a cheek if they still only play 3 sets It was good to see Federer win his 5th successive Wimbledon
Nicola H
I love the mixed doubles what an exciting match ............Well done Jamie Murray and Jelena Jankovic..............
susanbb
Yes, they do get the same prize money. Good for the girls, considering they don't have to do 5 sets Susan

I know they've been fighting for it for years - but what a cheek if they still only play 3 sets It was good to see Federer win his 5th successive Wimbledon Yes, but to be a player, male or female, you have to give the same commitments in practising, travel, time etc. The sacrifices in giving up other things for tennis are the same. Well done Federer and Murray & Jannovitch today. There's been some great tennis, Nadal made it a brilliant match.
Lesley
susan' date=' did I hear rightly yesterday.... that the prize money for the Ladies is now the same as for the Men? Well done Federer and Murray & Jannovitch today. There's been some great tennis, Nadal made it a brilliant match. I agree the sacrifices are the same Sheila - but todays women are not weaklings. or playing for fun and they are quite capable of playing 5 sets. Some of them are capable of taking on most of the male players! I think it's wrong that they only have to play 3 sets and yet demand, and receive, the same prize money. Equality should mean exactly that - equality! It gives other claims to equality a bad name - there will always be differences, we are not all equal, but I believe in equal pay for equal work, and that includes sport
Egluntyne
They should be prepared to play 5 sets I reckon.

buffie
I agree with you too, they are so capable and strong. It's no girly game any more BBx
Sheilaz
Funnily enough, I don't think the prizes should be equal, 3 sets is tons easier than 5 sets, I just thought I'd throw in some other fascinating points. (Thought it might be safer to agree with Egluntine & Lesley, folks ). No really, it does give equality a bad name if it's not equal work. I couldn't play 5 sets, I'd need too many loo/tea breaks. That's the only reason of course. Imagine 5 hours like the men's quarters, then play the semi a few hours later, felt sorry for Djokovitch in that respect. Although OH (who watched about 5 mins was that someone should concede a semi match rather than play to the end....
Lesley
Sheila - you only need lots of loo breaks because you have tea breaks Egluntine - you do realise that when we do both make it to a get-together, we'll be on our own? everyone else will be too scared to join us!
