Does anyone have any experience sexing Salmon Faverolle chicks? At what age can you tell the difference between them and are there colour differences when they are young? Mine are three weeks old now.

Yes it's easy to tell quite early. The girls are pale feathered and the boys are much much darker. Once you get a few wing feathers you should be able to tell... Do you have any pics? I adore favs!!

As above, it's very easy

 

The males have quite a lot of black feathering, black on the chest means a boy but I think you could probably tell earlier from wing feathering

Thanks for your help. I have uploaded some photos on flickr. Got them last week and they are now 3 weeks old. One is larger than the other. Both seem to have creamy brown wings when they are closed but when you stretch their wings out they have darker feathers underneath which is making me uncertain whether they are boys or girls. No chest feathers year. They are very friendly and are eating out of our hands already.

They look quite girly but I had one that I thought was a girl that turned into a boy last year. The wings can be deceptive, because even the girls have quite dark feathers on them, so to say you can tell them apart by boys having black feathers on their wings isn't strictly true. You'll know for sure when the chest feathers appear. Faverolles are lovely
