Mrs Webmuppet
I know it's only March but is anyone planning to go this year? Little Miss Webmuppet and I may go on the Saturday, subject to me saving up enough spending money!
AJuff
Wow! Not heard of this festival! Will google it now:) Thanks.
Plum
It really is worth a trip AJuff. There are exhibits of the best from all over the world and more traders and demonstations than you can dream of. We usually go on the thursday or friday and never get to see everything
craftyhunnypie
Where is it being held? I have a quilting shop with an exhibition near me at Lampeter. It's the Jen Jones Quilt Centre. It's fab, so I think I'd like this festival, being as I've got into the quilting lark ( beginner). Emma.x
Plum
It's at the NEC Emma from 16th to 19th August thiswill tell you a bit about it. I've heard Jen Jones talk about welsh quilts and setting up the centre. Very inspiring, lucky you being near.

Mrs Webmuppet
Aha Plum !they knew we were going, there was loads left on Saturday.......................we have enough stuff to keep me out of mischief for quite some time. Got some beautiful batik fabrics, blades for my cutters ( and a lot cheaper than I can get locally) threads and some bits and bobs.
Plum
I indulged in hand dyed fabric and been inspired to have a go myself. I also bought invisgrip for my ruler, batiks, other fabric and some wonderful threads from oliver twists. I spotted Kaffe Fassett who was dressed as colourfully as his quilts. Loved loads of the quilts and was totally inspired by a lot of the quilting. Came home and my quilting just looks rubbish, got to practice lots. I didn't do any classes due to lack of time even though I was there two days, did you? Great Northern quilt show at end of next week that I hope to get to
bigmommasally
Hi girls I was there Saturday, the quilts were stunning - I loved the Quilters Olympics quilt. I agree Plum some of the quilting was absolutely amazing, I'm still only managing straight line quilting - my attempts at free motion quilting have been very sad! I was inspired by Kate Dowty's display, I had a chat with her and really fancy having a go at an abstract landscape now. Roll on next year
Mrs Webmuppet
We spotted Kaffe Fassett too. We had a quick chat with Karin Hellaby from Quilters Haven. We didn't do any classes as it's a bit tricky with a 12 year old and we had a two hour journey each way from Dads. We did keep an eye out for you Sally in case you happened to be there on the Saturday but we must have missed you in the chaos. At least LMW didn't get squished by over enthusiastic ladies this year. LMW loved the very expensive quilting machine ( the salesman said it cost £9,000 ) I don't even do straight line quilting I use a wibbly wobbly stitch that wanders over the seams..........covers for the fact that I can't do a straight line without the relevant guiding foot! Plum
Oh those machines I'd love to have a go. I tried one with a domestic machine on a frame. But I was watching a lady have a go on one of the longarm ones and her free quilting was to die for.
Mrs Webmuppet
The salesman was either very brave or foolhardy 'cause he let LMW have a go with his oh so expensive machine .....I can't remember the make but it was a huge machine ( about 5 foot wide and the quilt to be quilted had to sit on a roller thingy) where you would have had to sit on a bar stool to operate it. Valkyrie
Bother - missed it again. Rather interested in the Accuquilt. It's come a long way since the guillotine method (and even then "Ooops, word censored!"ody sold it over here - US only) - I'd like to see it in action. But my goodness how expensive!!!!!
