one of my girls is not well

Recommended Posts

I have 4 girls and Bella the oldest 4 years old looks as though she my be ill sqatting and plumped out little or no movement.

Two of the younger girls are now pecking at her back feathers.

I have now separated them from her.

My question is is this normal chicken activity when one of them is unwell??

I will have to take action for Bella if she does not pick up (sadly)

Thanks fro any help

Hi Plumb

Thanks for that, her droppings are very liquid we wormed the girls 3 weeks ago , she is almost off her legs ie waddling motion. She sat by the back door not moving for most of the day, however I have given her some chopped up grapes her favourites and she has eaten those.

I have not checked her breathing, her crop is a bit bulbous but will do another check.

Regards

crops normal for this time of day it's probably the grapes. That'll have got some fluid into her.

I'd be worried about the waddling though it's usually the sign of a distended abdomen. They can get retained egg and peritonitis which makes them waddle. Does she feel as though she has fluid in her belly? If so with her being so poorly it's probably infected which means antibiotics or ending her suffering :(
