Early hatching help please!

Recommended Posts

This afternoon as it becames day 18 we were going to take out the dividers stop turning and fill up the water resevoirs as suggested.

But

a chick has hatched :shock::shock::shock:

What do I do I know I should leave it to fluff up but should I leave it in there but take out the dividers and fill the water up quickly and then leave the chick in there, if so for how long.

Or do I move the chick to the brooder and prepare the incy for hatching as planned.

Any advice, thanks, we are in a state of shock here :D

Thanks sjp.

We now have Tumble a beautiful tiny mini white silkie chick in the brooder all alone. It hatched on day 17 and the other eggs are still in the incy, it is very chirpy, we think it would like some friends.

We called it Tumble as it was on the top but one row of eggs with the octagon on the side as we had not stopped turning it, and we found it at the bottom so we think it tumbled down the other rows of eggs :shock::D

Awww i hope Tumble has some friends soon. I'm sure he / she will. Don't worry if it ends up being a lone chick though, as I ended up with a lone silkie chick. She is now 7 weeks old & has been absolutely fine growing up on her own. She is the tamest chickette we have ever had - due to lots of fuss from us pair. :D

Congratulations & good luck with the others.

Thanks Emma, we hope there will be some more soon. She has been very loud today but we have played with her tonight and made sure she has had some chick crumbs and some water, she is now asleep :D

We were hoping for chicks at the weekend so hopefully she will have some friends soon.

We are started a new topic with a photo of her (I hope she will be a her :D )
