Surprise Easter eggs!

Recommended Posts

Hey folks,

Our two chooks arrived on thursday and the lovely man who delivered them said to expect them to start laying in about a month or so. Good friday, our Mrs. pepperpot produced a small, but perfect ( and delicious) egg... Followed by another yesterday. So chuffed and very unexpected! Does this mean she'll lay regularly from now on. We're new to chickens, but very enthused and keen to learn!

We had another today! They don't hang around long though! Fab news. Really loving being a chicken owner- they were a present for my other half, but I'm getting quite attached myself and can see how it can become addictive! I've started avoiding chicken on the menu too -although not a veggie- I feel so bad! The forum is great- I'm sure there will be lots of other questions as time goes on.

Thanks for your replies. (-:

Welcome to the wonderful world of chicken keeping - and congratulations on your first eggs!!

We were so excited with our first eggs OH was texting me about it at work and taking photos of the eggs in the nest box to show me when I got in - bless him.

Enjoy every minute with your new girls :)

What a lovely friendly forum! Thanks for your replies. I've spent the afternoon putting up the netting and making the girls a more permanent patch......I did think how nice a cube would look in the garden.. (cube green):D ... But one thing at a time!

Don't want to return to work tomorrow so I miss collecting the eggs! I was far too excited for a 35 year old woman when We got the first egg! (i think I've worked out the symbols too.. !egg! )

See you soon.

Congratulations, it is so eggciting finding your first egg.

Going to work does get in the way of chicken watching and egg collecting but I drive home from work and wonder how many eggs I will find waiting for me

I found my omlet girls laid most days and kept going for their first winter laying fairly regularly.
