jjmack
Hi, We are having some work done and are looking to move our toilet and utility into the garage (taking 10ft or so off the end of the garage). Building control say I need to put in some plans / sketches. I have put in structural plans for a wall we are taking out in the kitchen which have been done by a friend who is a structural engineer, but didn't think I would have do do any for the garage. As it seems I will have to, to what standard will they need them? Am I able to do a sketch with dimensions etc or are they looking for architect standard. i know it will be abreeze block wall and there will be a fire resistant door because of the garage, so can put that in. I know my friend will probably do me a favour but I don't really want to exploit his kindness. What are peoples experiences? Thank you! The Dogmother
My experience is generally at the other end of things but I'd imagine that they'd expect to see detailed drawings (of architectural standard) showing materials used and attention to safety and fire regs. Hope you get it sorted.
HarrisonFamily
To get the planning permission for our extensions we submitted drawing done just on scale paper with measurements on them... If it was for building regulations this was more complicated but was sorted by our builder .. It will probably depend where you live as well....I would ask and see what they would accept. The Dogmother
From experience, building regs departments can be very helpful, just ring and ask. They will probbaly want to make a site visit.
jjmack
Didn't need to panic! Apparently my description was so appalling they just need a sketch on a s"Ooops, word censored!" of paper to exPlain it! Thanks for your help I had begun to see more£ signs!
