migsy
My very naughty chickens have started egg eating this week. They are getting old and their egg shells are thin so pecking them is not exactly difficult! Does anyone know where I can get some rock hard eggs that will persuade them that egg pecking is not such a great idea? Thanks.
clootie
I've got a few - pm me your address and I'll send you a couple. They're actually marble if that's any good. Bought in China some years ago ...........
Charlottechicken
I have some rubber ones from Omlet I think you can also get them on ebay, and places like Ascot. Love the old porcelain ones though, my grandparents had chickens and I do wonder what happened to all their stuff

sarahelliott
I got mine in SCATS and they were actually quite reasonable!
Redwing
Egg eating is sometimes a problem where the nest box is quite light, if you can make it darker then there is a high chance the egg eating would cease
migsy
Thanks for your advice and especially your offer Clootie! I've bought some very hard plastic ones from Pets at Home. Redwing - I'm not sure how to make it darker - it is an Eglu Classic. I think what happened is that some of the chickens are quite old and lay thin shelled eggs that break easily. Because they have broken in the nest box they have got a taste for them. I'm managing to retrieve some before the eater gets to them. Hopefully, the decoy beak breakers will do the trick
