Sun cream stains on white clothes?

Recommended Posts

I am sure that there is a domestic godess out there who can help me.

I have a few items of clothing with these stains including a couple of white linen shirts and my ED's favourite smart white cotton blouse, so any ideas would be gratefully received.

I have tried google and so far vinegar and neat washing up liquid seem to be the favourites.

I'd try neat washing up liquid too. It usually gets all sorts out. You might need a couple of applications, and leave it in for a while before washing. The white marks from sun cream are such a pain, especially when its around the neck line of a dark top you are wearing (and I speak from experience  )

Be really careful of what you get sun cream on...I had to get a car resprayed once because my kids were wearing suncream and managed to put their lovely delicate hand and arm prints all over the bottom half of my lovely silver car!!!

As sunscream contains oils you may find even after a few attempts it is stained a nicotiney yellow colour...also try using a brightening agent which is usually used for net curtains or a stain remover like vanish...you will need something that is designed for whites specifically and also use a fabric softener for whites. Don't try bleach, been there done that

I have often used Miltons sterilising tablets on suspect stains on white clothes. I make the area damp - very damp - inside the washing up bowl. Place the tablet in the middle of the stain and then crush it up and spread it around the stain once it has absorbed a little bit of water. Check every 30 mins to see if the stain has gone. Rinse well and then wash in the usual way in the washing machine. Nothing else seemed to work on white. I even removed some of DS's boxer shorts from the bin and gave them the Milton treatment!
