At last, got our own big garden!

Recommended Posts

After 2 years of looking we have finally found a house with a big garden that we could afford, had to go to auction mind you. This was our second attempt at an auction...it is all very nerve wracking, and only decided 3 days before that we were going to go all through it again but it was worth it in the end! After all the rain I was feeling a bit down in the dumps, but now I am supermotivated, spent 6 hours today weeding our allotment so feeling very tired but happy! Lots of planning to do for a new veg plot and chicken run...so excited! :D

Marvellous! How big is big? Will you give up the allotment or keep it going? Half the fun is in planning, I spend all winter imagining what I'm going to do - it never actually happens, especially this year because the weather's got in the way, but it whiles away the dark evenings. When do you take possession?

A third of an acre, plus there might be the chance to rent some more which backs on to the garden (although a third of an acre should do!)

The previous owners did use the land to graze their goats on though :D We will be giving up the allotment next march, we've had it 4 years and will be sad to leave it some ways, but can't wait until next summer when I can stroll down the garden to get veg, rather than jump in the car. The way the garden is laid out means that there is a definite hen space, and a seperately veg space which is good....and a possible goat space :)
