Ebay bidding I need some tips!

Recommended Posts

Arghh I keep being outbid for items on ebay at the very last minute. I know there's the max bid thing and I have been entering a value but I guess I've not been brave enough to put a high enough max bid.

Do any of you experienced ebayers have any tips for me other than be braver with the max bid ?

I agree with Fred about the odd number. I have lost out on several items by bidding a round figure, only to find that the winning bid was a few pence more.

I now tend to wait until the last few seconds of the auction before bidding with the maximum I am prepared to pay.

Good luck!

Stick to your guns. Perhaps wait til nearer the end of the auction and put in your bid, the highest you are willing to go and no more!! Do your research to see what others have/are paying for similar items. A few months ago we were bidding on on some pine bureaus. We missed out several times but then won and paid far less than what the others had gone for. I think there's an element of luck involved. Good luck and happy bidding!! Xxx

There is such a thing as an 'auction sniper' which will put a bid in the closing second for you just higher than the previous bid - I dont know how it works exactly...

I think they are slightly un-sportsmanlike personally but if you are desperate for a particular item it could be worth investigating and they are regularly used by others

Use AuctionSniper - I never 'bid' any more,I 'Snipe' & its rare that I lose out on something.

It works by bidding at the very last second, which not only means that the winning price is usually lower,as fewer people are outbidding each other, but also no one has a chance to bid against you, unless they have a higher Snipe or bid set up.
