Chickens take years off your life!

before you shout "philistine, witch, tart" hear my tale of woe.

After weeks of rain - like many of you i have cleaned out girls in waterproofs and wellies, hair frizzing, soaked but cos I love em I do it. Rewarded with eggs - yeah when it suits em.

So today I decided the run which is rank needed doing and they have tramped it down into what look like cliff tops - I suppose they jump off them - any way I am raking out this stinky :silenced: gunk and "SQQQQQQQQQQUAAAAAAK" right in my ear and Maggie leaps over the fenced off bit to join me. To say I nearly died of fright would be an understatement. I scooped her up and posted her back over. Next minute Jez my only Omlet hen who hates being handled lands next to me and legs it. Out comes the net and after a battle me and OH get her in it and drop her back into clean run. I needed a strong coffee - I have left them to trash the run and shape the auboise into nice shapes. They are naughty fiesty wenches and are shortening my life with their naughtiness. :boohoo:

MMmm not sure if cheeky is the word I would use but the fact its a family site and I would be modded prevents me being more graphic  As i speak I see them tossing bedding around - wondering if I can rent them to the council for help digging up roads

I always use mine to break down a new bed in the garden...fabulous stuff and fertilised as they go... a great service......

Although I know what you mean about taking years off your life...one of mine does a perfect disappearing act regularly,....last time I found her (just before I started ringing neighbours doors to see if I could track her down) she wasn't outside..but admiring her hairdo in the oven door..spookily the doors to the kitchen were closed...how did she manage that...I'm wondering if she pole vaulted through the cat flap!!!

I think they know they are off on hen hols and God help my friend. I hope they dont end up as lunch as I have warned her re early morning noise.
