Then there's Marty Mcfly ........yes he's a lemon or buff cuckoo boy!! But so cute going to see if I can keep him!! Next are Forence, birchen and Martha black or possibly mottled. They are all gorgeous - and I love the names!

As you've said, hatching is quite a stressful and hit-and-miss business, but I wouldn't mind having another go next year and try to produce a pekin or two! You must feel very satisfied to have produced all those beautiful chicks! :)

Ah thanks for all the kind replies!!

I do adore them and miss my beautiful boys that I had to re-home!! :( Keep in touch with their new mums though!!! (not that I'm controlling or anything :lol: ) I still worry about them and watch them like a hawk, they're changing over feathers at the moment

I did enjoy hatching, but it wasn't as easy as I'd thought.....even using broodies!!!!! But think I might have another go next year....NO doubt my girls will be broody  If I can keep the lemon boy, it would be nice to see what colours I might get!! But probably getting maxed out on capacity in my garden and chicken housing!!!!!!:lol:

Slight confession........getting 2 bantam aruacana girls in a few weeks!!!! Had wanted some before I got the pekins, but couldn't seem to find any locally. Hopefully next year I'll be collecting blue eggs!!

Mmmmm  ........ might even see what a aruacana x pekin looks like :lol:

Oh yes!!! "More-hens" disease is quite common around here :lol:

The new girls are lavender growers. Not sure exactually what age as they range from 8wks to 14wks and I get to choose!!!! But hoping to get older girls so I don't have to run 3 pens for too long and then they can go in with Monty and his ladies!!

Marty Mcfly is doing his screechy doodles in the morning now! Oh he does make me smile!!! :D Just hope his grown up doddle doos aren't too loud!!! Monty's are lovely......but he does start early and keeps right on going!! Thankfully my nighbours are ok about him (I did ask them before getting Monty!!!) but worry 2 will be too much?!?! Going to wait and see how it goes.

"more-hens disease" like it :D can I pass that of to the family as the genuine medical condition?:wink:

Blue eggs are fab, I used to have a colombine that had a lovely bluey green egg, used to remind me of a cadburys mini egg when I collected them :)

Hope they all settle in well together x
