Reusable produce bags

Recommended Posts

Hi, earlier today I came across the concept of reusable produce bags on the blog below (if I've set up the link right  )

http://theyearofless.blogspot.ca/

Anyway, this seem quite a good idea to me and I'm surprised I hadn't run across it before. I get the impression they are quite well used other side of the Atlantic. I was just wondering if any UK omleteers have used them?

I use them - the Trolley Dolly comes with a few net bags like that. It's fine using them at the Farmers' Market but you do get odd looks at a supermarket  - and the sticky labels won't stick to them easily.

They're very handy for washing fruit and veg in as well.

I don't think I've ever had odd looks in the supermarket (well, no more odd than usual, anyway  ) but I do need to be careful to tie the tops of the Onya bags closed, or the contents do tend to escape all over the conveyor belt at the checkout!!!! They are really useful bags though, wouldn't be without them now 8)

Living in Wales - we don't get carrier bags. They charge you. Which I think is fantastic really. We have to remember to take lots of bags with us. But I have a fold up bag & 2 reusable large Asda bags. These together usually hold all the shopping I need. I have a lot of Jute bags, but they aren't so good in the rain.

What are these Onya bags? I think I've missed something here. I'm guessing they are like my fold up bag?
