Insurance quandry = advice please...

Recommended Posts

Hi guys.

Last week I lost my lovely (very expensive) phone whilst walking Finley over the fields. I looked for it 3 times for an hour or so, then did the right thing. Phone Orange to get the sim blocked. Informed my insurance company and the police for a ref number.

I have a new sim and the insurance sent a cheque for a new phone which I got on saturday......

SHOCK HORROR. Some one found my phone today and returned it to me in pristeen condition and still working, despite having the imei number the phone hasn't been blocked.

Now I feel like a criminal! What do I do? Do I tell the insurers? What will they do? Will they want their money back that i've already spent? Do I keep quiet and keep it as a very luxurious spare? Will they believe me if I tell them..

Advice pleasssseeeeeee....

Some insurance policies have provisions written in the notes on what to do in this situation, time to break the small print out.

They will believe you if you tell them, it's happened before and it'll happen again.

Due to the IMEI number, your phone is very traceable and if you are caught using it it'll be easy to make a case for insurance fraud against you.

It's likely that they would accept the item in return in the case that you no longer have the money, or possibly make some other arrangement.
