We went to a local poultry auction last weekend. We came home with the cutest little pekin ladies. They are a small strain & classed as buff - although they are more a ginger colour. We call them our gingersnaps! They are very cute.

I know poultry auctions aren't ideal places to buy, but we did scrutinize these as much as we could. All appear in very good health.

Thank you! I hope you get some pekins in the future - they are so lovely & comical. I have a soft spot for them. I started with 3 & now have.....? Ha ha!

I saw some adorable millefleur pekin chicks at the poultry farm I visited at the weekend...wish I could have brought some home!! I don't have any more space but when I do they are on my list (as well as owlbeard bantams!)

They're very pretty Craftyhunnypie and all about them is looking so green (nearly as green as me - )

 

Mrs B how did you manage to resist a millefleur pekin? I've only ever seen these in books but millefleur is my bestest, most favourite colour. I think I like it even more than Lemon. Forget eggs, I just love all the different colours and Pekins certainly come in lots.

They weren't for sale the lady at the farm didn't hatch pure breeds this year and was only selling hybrids. I don't have any room sadly, but if they were for sale it would have been very difficult not to be tempted - they were absolutely gorgeous chicks! I will be looking at what the lady sells next year though
