The girls are coming home today! :-D now with pics

Recommended Posts

The run is ready! The corn is scattered, the mealworms have been hidden and I've even prepared them a dish of tuna (hoping to get them in tip top condition, as I've had a long running pecking problem - but that's another story!). Just waiting for my friend to come back from IKEA (via a new chicken shop I've sent her to  ), then her and her whole family are coming round for the grand opening!!! :D Lots of pics to follow tonight after the children have gone to bed...:dance::dance::dance::dance::dance::dance::dance::dance::dance::dance::dance::dance:

OK here we are, I know I've posted a couple of these pics in the planning sticky, but I thought it would be nice to have them all together,

the house - really wanted a classic, but had to use the money on unexpected expenses  but I'm really pleased with the new paint job

I'll stop there! The girls have all got bumpa bits on now (and don't seem to mind) and have been purpled - hence their slightly dirty appearance. They have all developed a habit of feather pecking, from a process of elimination I think this is down to habit (no excuse to be bored now!). So I'm hoping the bits, tuna and new run will help to resolve this problem - it's the least they can do for me

They seem so much happier scratting about in the easybed on concrete than the horrible muddy mess the old run had become. Yesterday before they came home I mixed corn, seaweed suppliment and mealworms in the the bedding and they didn't go to bed for hours! I'm slightly miffed that after thoughtfully constructing a cosy high perch with shading around it (as they have always slept outside no matter what the weather!) they chose to all cram into the nest box last night  I guess this is from being at my friends where the house was the only option. I hope one day they will choose to sleep outside again, if only to keep the nest box clean!

Anyway there you have it - it's been a long journey but I'm thrilled with the end result. I hope everyone else who's been having horrible problems with petpens4u gets them resolved soon and anyone else looking to order a new WIR - order from someone else!

ps photos have been resized but photobucket just slow to catch up x

hopingforchickens, that looks absolutely brilliant, and the girls seem to be very impressed too! i bet it will take them a good few days to explore everything and find all the new perches and stuff to play with. great idea mixing treats in with the bedding so they have to search for it!

the run looks great and a very nice colour choice, bet youre relieved it's all sorted now after the petpens4u headache!!

looking forward to seeing more pics as the ladies find their way around their new palace :)
