I guess this is down to their diet up till now, or something to do with their age? Has anyone else found this when they have new chickens? All seems fine otherwise and they have been eating the Garvo mash that the others eat and have been drinking and even had a few mealworms. At bed time they all sat out in the run so I did the thing with the torch - within a few minutes they all toddled in to bed without a fuss! I was impressed at how well that worked. So, a nice quiet evening after the initial grumbling and squawking at the start. Mind you, Betty and Bessie had to be put to bed as I think they wanted to keep vigil outside just to keep an eye on things! Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

One lot of chickens I had stunk when new, I think they were used to having a lot of apple cider vinegar in their water. It went after a day or two. good_egg Posted September 6, 2012 Share Posted September 6, 2012 My wee ones stunk when they arrived, got better after being on Garvo for about a week but still smelt a bit more than my previous older girls.
