Ammonia smell in coop-first time owner

I go on ebay and always have a look at the omlet items on offer. Today there is an eglu mrk 1 and it has so far reached over £200 and it still has a day to run. Has the mrk 1 become collectors item or am I missing something?

I think people don't know the difference

I know that all eglus seem to sell well on ebay - am always looking for a bargain, but don't find one

I agree. I don't think a lot of people are aware of the Mark 1. I am amazed at how much they fetch especially as they have wooden roosting bars. I have been watching many eglus on ebay recently,to see how much they fetch ,as I am going to list one of mine (I think). I have been trying to gauge how much I am likely to get for mine but I haven't a clue. Some go for very little and others get really high bids on them. I suppose it is just luck if a few people in your area are looking for one when you want to sell? x

I think it depends a little bit where you live I am in the East Mids and I quite recently bought 2 eglus with 2 m runs & glug and grub- one chicken and one pet, altogether cost £370, plus the cost of a conversion kit.

 

They do seem to keep their value though. Which is good because I told hubby to view the purchases as a long term rental with a good chance of getting some money back.

Yellow ones fetch a bomb still. I think newbies to eglus think "Ooo an eglu" & just bid, not realising that it could be an old one (MK1). However, eglus do keep their value good. I think it's because, buy an eglu & you probably won't ever have to buy another chicken coop for a very very long time, as they are robust & easy to clean.

Well done to the mrk 1 owner for selling. It didn't go up any higher as I first thought it might. Good to know we have invested in such a good re-sale product. Not so good if we want to bag a bargain.
