Meet the new girls

Recommended Posts

This is Francesca and Mrs Pompom, I've inherited them off a very dear friend who is downsizing her flock - lucky me eh?! Mrs Pompom is about 18-24 months and Francesca (previously Fried) is about 17 weeks and had just started laying lovely dark brown eggs. :D

I love them already! :D

As usual have shrunk photos but they are taking time to catch up!

Well just let them out for 10 minutes together. After a quick squabble Francesca seems to be part of the pack (very early days I know but was mooching around with everyone). Unfortunately everyone thought Pompom was fair game :( especially Tallulah - which I expected as she's bottom of the pack...

So glad I made them separate accommodation now, going to do this reeeaaaallllly slowly. Would just like to add that I stepped in with the fighting, don't know if that's the right thing to do but it seemed so brutal. No injuries just lots of feathers and squarking, but it made me sad!!!

Put everyone back and given them all tuna and corn to settle them down. Oh and got and egg of each of the newbies today. Total clutch of the day, 2 light brown, one dark brown and one white! :D

Never had to do intros before, it's heartbreaking, why do they have to be so mean?! Took 3 of my friend's other chickens to be re-homed at a friend of mine's today. They put them straight in and there was no trouble what-so-ever, we sat there all afternoon waiting for the squabbles to start, but they were fine. No such luck here!

Looks like it's the long slow process for us, can't bear to see them fight it out. Just hope in the long run I can intergrate them.
