charly1979
Im in the Bath area and trying to find somewhere to get some wood chippings to go in my girls run theres is getting rather muddy etc and ive seen lots of peoples pictures with lovey wood chippings. I have read somewhere that bark chippings arent as good due to mould developing on them ? Any help would be great Thanks
Lavenders_Blue
Try ringing round a few local tree surgeons. There is one local to me who delivers me a tipper truck load for free.
heth1986
Ditto, tree surgeons in my area are very willing to deliver a load onto my drive way, it means wheelbarrowing it all up to the right place but it always smells lovely as it's usually fruit trees and lasts so much longer than the stuff you buy in bags! Cheeky Chooky
As long as you use Hardwood Wood Chips rather than Bark, your chooks will be fine I buy mine from Flyte So Fancy...they're great
charly1979
Thanks guys I shall have to be extra nice to my cousin as he is a tree surgeon
Lavenders_Blue
Ideal - I am sure he would be willing to let you have some. The tree surgeon I get my wood chips from is only too willing to let me have them as it saves him having to dispose of them (I think he has to pay). I usually have to wait a few weeks until he's going past my door, but I don't mind that. If he's letting me have them for free I can't expect him to go out of his way especially to deliver them to me.
