clucker1
Took some marrow skin in pieces out to the girls this evening as an offering for their treat, to see what they thought of it. Initially, they turned their beaks up at it...then Darthveda chief in charge, decided to use her brain and realised the soft stuff was edible. The others caught on, so you could see the brains working....pick it up with beak, make sure dark green side is downwards, eat soft green flesh, make sure "Ooops, word censored!"ody else pinches it off me! It was quite amusing to watch, a good boredom buster too!
smartrus
Hi, sounds a good treat. My chickens however, turn their beaks up at most veg except tinned corn! Fussy things, I put some nice cabbage in the other day and I spent my morning picking it back up again, all soggy! Lettuce too! I've tried other veg, cooked and raw. I guess I could try marrow, you never know! I'm glad yours enjoy it though! You obviously don't have such fussy hens, lucky you!
charly1979
I love watching my girls with veggie treats etc nothing make me chuckle more than a chook running around with a grape trying not the let the others get it This summer im sure mine were entering some relay race for the oylmpics. I did also find out that they dont like bannans after Harvey lobbed his in their pen initally they seemed to like it then they did a frantic cleaning of beak and wouldnt go near it . Mine currently have a sunflower head tied up for them (curtesoy of my childrens school allotment) im just waiting for them to realise that it has sunflower seeds in it mine are either thick or lazy or both !!
