Chucky Mama
I have only just caught up with this story. Michelle found out that she has BRCA2 a mutated gene meaning that she has a 80% chance of of developing breast cancer and a 30 per cent chance of developing ovarian cancer too. She has just made the decision to have a double mastectomy and her ovaries removed. She has a beautiful baby girl and is clearly going thought a truly horrible time Story. Angie
My friend Dianne was diagnosed with breast cancer 4 yrs ago. Amongst all the tests and screenings she had the genetic gene , but wasn't aware of any family connection with the disease. She fought it bravely. She had surgeries , chemo and radiotherapy to the max they could give her. Sadly she last her fight last week. Her funeral is tomorrow. She was 45 in January. Many times she told me that if she had known of any family history she would of asked for screening or had been routinely screened for the gene she would have taken the option of a double mastectomy years ago. I admire anyone who takes the decision to have a mastectomy without any active disease. If Di had known sooner i would still have my best friend. Chucky Mama
So sorry Angie. Michelle is very worried about her daughter and says that she feels awful that she may have passed the gene to her.
Looney
Angie, really sorry to hear about your friend xxx I think Michelle Heaton is being very brave, I totally understand her decision and even knowing the stats I think it takes real guts to go through with the operations.
