My washing machine arrives this morning!

Recommended Posts

:D At last I will be able to wash the mile high pile of washing! I have been without a machine for 2 weeks and we are reduced to wearing baggy old pants and socks with holes in (time for a sort out me thinks! ).

Friends offered me the use of their washing machines and I COULD have managed a trip to the launderette, but I really wanted to see how long I could last without one and how much electricity I could save! Apparently we wash our clothes far too much in this country anyway. The family have been persuaded to air clothes and wear them again (and again!) without putting them in the wash after 30 seconds of use.

Think I will be washing ALL day though, despite the 8kg capacity of the new machine!

That must be awful being without a washing machine for so long. I have to say I do think most people do wash their clothes far too often. When my son and his family were living with us a little while ago I was astonished at the amount of laundry they accumulated. All of them would just wear an item of clothing once and then put it in the wash

I agree! My husband wears his jeans once and puts them in the wash  I have given up trying to get him not to, now I just spirit them back out of the laundry basket and into the chest of drawers. He is no wiser :D I'm of the 'the longer you wear your jeans, the better they get' school of thought :D

Don't envy you your mammoth pile of washing today though...sympathy!

Smell test - teenage boys sweat a lot :vom: and shirts etc pong after one wear - socks - well dont got there and we all get clean knicks everyday. Most of my tops go 2 days but cleaned out hens today - bit over zealous with jet spray so this top will be in wash after one wear. I think we do over wash - but theres nothing worse than dirty bodies and dirty clothes= - i know _ i work in Drs surgery and woh - you wouldnt want to go there. Have fun

It seems the eco friendly mode takes 3 1/2 hours! Will do that one next week!

I got a new washing machine back in the spring and my eco friendly wash takes the same amount of time. I must admit that it's put me off using it too often

The way this summer has been, if it looks like it might be a good drying day, I want to get stuff washed and on the line as soon as I can!

How can they say it's eco friendly when you are using electricity for 3 1/2 hours ??

We splashed out on a Miele machine last year which came with a 10 year guarantee. Worked out it was economical in the long run. Love it and the economy wash only takes 35 mins.

We change tops and undies every day - trousers and jeans are washed when they are dirty. Towels and bedding every week. Muddy dog covers VERY frequently at the moment
