Chortle Chook
I've been told that ducks commonly live to be 20 (and geese to 30). Could that be true? Does anyone on here have or know of old ducks?
zakjon-98
I don't have ducks but am interested in wildlife and I read that an age to expect from a wild mallard duck can be 15-25 years. So I think it would be possible as I think that all domesticated ducks but muscovies are bred from mallards. I would think they would certainly live longer than chickens. Hope this helps
Chortle Chook
Thanks zakjon-98, I am pleased It makes my duty of care seem greater however and also it seems so wrong when people say 'only a duck' as they'd never say that of a dog who lives far less long. All the same if I had to run for it and take just one set of pets it would be the dogs I'd take first
Chicken shack
This could mean my ducks out live me.
