Knit & Stitch Magazine

Has anyone had a look at this? I've bought the first one. 99p and you get 2 balls of wool and some knitting needles. The second edition is £2.50 and the next edition onwards £4.50

There are two 25g balls of wool every week. If you subscribe you get some lovely gifts. I am very tempted, but then I think of all my UFOs, and of course the ongoing cost. Think I'll leave this for now.

I saw this advertised last night - afraid I am very sceptical about these 'buy the first edition, get the second one free' - there are probably some good things in there, but by the time you've bought several copies of this you might as well spend the money on wool and buy a knitting book ... or go to You Tube for some videos!

I buy the first ones at 99p, but never the rest. The only one I have a subscription to is Best Baking. But that was a gift. I get sent 2 books a month & have had a lot of use out of them.

I agree - there are lots of free patterns on the net - or buy a book on what you really want to knit or crochet, instead of making something you don't really want in some ghastly yarn.

Nothing nicer than going your wool shop & having a squidge!

I got no. 1, 2 also is cheap, then £4.50 * another 78 weeks! so £360. The wool included was acryilc so as much as I like the 99p one and thought the DVD was good carrying on is not for me.

...the alternative? I looked locally for learn to knit classes, so for £85 I am now seeing a knitwear designer, materials/ equipment included, plus tea & cakes in a small group for a great class. For me personally that will get me on the right track quicker than the magazine and certainly a lot cheaper and more sociable!

I bought No. 1, which I thought was really good value because it included a pair of knitting needles and 2 balls of wool, as well as a DVD - and all for 99p. I decided not to buy No. 2, which includes a crochet hook and 2 balls of wool, because I'm not into crocheting. I probably won't buy any more, not at £4.50 a week, and my feeling is that I will stop at the bargain first issue. I'm sure this isn't what the publishers want to hear! - but for me, £4.50 is too much to "shell out" (excuse the pun) for a weekly magazine.

Taj - your local class sounds like more my cup of tea too!

Cocoa - if it was monthly I'd have been tempted, but I agree, too much for every week

I already have 2 phone socks knitted and a scarf knitted in the round and know quiet a few different stitches and techniques.

Don't be sorry Mrs Clucker, if it has given you the inspiration to start something that's what its all about, as you say cancel the sub when youve got what you want out of it.

My year old blows hot and cold with knitting and crocheting but sews at school every week and loves it.

Hope you keep busy
