Purplemaniacs
Yesterday Marshmallow, a Snowbelle hybrd, laid a lovely white egg. It was my 5,000th egg Yes I have recorded each egg by weight and who laid it since we first had chooks almost five years ago. OH says will we break even soon, that is something I am too scared to work out Chrissie
Mrs_B
Wow! Did I see that right, 5,000th egg That's really fantastic! Good on you for keeping everything recorded! x
Daphne
Congratulations This is a really nice post, there aren't many people who would be so meticulous in their record keeping. Tell us - which type of bird has laid the most for you? It would be interesting to know if there are any patterns with the different breeds/hybrids
Grandmashazzie
My goodness good for you for keeping all those details it must be lovely to look back over them.
cyclonetog
5000 to break even? Ouch! I think I'm glad I haven't worked it out! I think in my Chicken keeping career I've had around 500 eggs and given half away
missusmac
This made me laugh I got my very first egg today and my OH delighted in telling the rest of the family how it was the most expensive egg ever laid, worth about £1000 - sarcastic reference to my classic and run, WIR and Omlet netting. So only 4,999 more eggs to go until I break even then I know I won't keep the same meticulous records you have kept but you have inspired me to try and keep a count of how many I get.
