Red orpington

Recommended Posts

Congratulations :D They are pretty rare as they are a non-standard colour and not many people have them. I'm not sure how they were bred originally, possibly a buff or white x jubilee out crossed to a red Sussex somewhere along the way to deepen the colour, or a Rhodie, but that has yellow legs. The problem with most of them is either they aren't very typey or the colour is patchy and not deep enough. Black smuts, especially on the tail are another issue. I think they are really nice though and to breed good quality ones consistently could be a nice project :D
