good_egg
Not content with laying pretty coloured eggs, Connie appears to have started painting her own! Any ideas what caused this....?
sjp
it could be a thin shelled egg but more likely and egg at the end of a laying cycle I've got a couple that lay one like that about every 7 - 10 eggs depending on who laid it you might find she has a day or two off to reset the system. there the eggs that get rejected at the grading stage in a commercial egg plant there nowt wrong with them they just don't look right. I like to include a few in any display I do just to show folk what real eggs look like and what gets rejected
Mrs_B
That's an interesting (and pretty!) looking egg - I haven't ever seen one like that before x
suebee
I've never seen a two tone egg either! How interesting!
Chicken deficient
Any ideas what caused this....? I seem to remember reading that the blue colour is just on the outer surface of the egg shell? In which case, perhaps the egg went through Connie's shell gland a bit too quick for the last bit to have the colour laid down on the shell? I think sudden surprises can cause this, like a loud airplane going overhead!
