kittyl
I'm intending to put the eggs in on Sunday, but thought I'd give the new Brinsea mini a trial run first. OMG not sure if I can put up with this loud buzzing noise for 3 weeks, the only place I can shut the door on it is the utility, which is pretty small & doesn't have a radiator. It recommends in the instructions to keep the room at at least 17c. Where do other people put their incy's & how do you put up with the noise? Purplemaniacs
I put mine in the kitchen which is connected to the dining room and a sitting room. I had an Octogon and never found it particularly noisy, it made a noise but it never annoyed me, I think it was quite comforting really Good luck with your hatch. Redwing
My two inccys make a very faint buzzing/whirring sound but no more than our freezers do Are you sure its working ok?
kittyl
I ran it for 1/2 a day to make sure it was working, seemed to be ok. The buzzing of the fan is at a pitch that really gets into my head! I had to turn it off before it drove me nuts, perhaps its just me! Having not had one before I cant compare & its too late to replace it. I shall have to make a space in the utility & keep the door shut. kittyl
problem solved, it's gone into the kitchen where there's always someone clattering about so it doesn't seem so loud! Mistake was putting it in a quiet room that I like to sit in.
atsw
Just wait until the chicks hatch and start cheeping, they will drown out any noise made by the incubator .
kittyl
I think I was right about the noise not being right, today it seemed to be noisier everytime I went past it, thought it was my imagination at first, then I picked up the top turned it upside down - it went quieter, put it back on - now its humming gently! so there must be a fault with the fan. too late to send it back I'm putting the eggs in tomorrow, I daren't leave them any longer. If it starts doing it again I hope Regency will send me another & collect the other a day or two later to give me time to set it. Darn it, nothing I do is ever simple! Perhaps if I cuddle my orpy bantam lots while showing her pictures of cute chickies she might go broody for me.
Purplemaniacs
Could you contact Brinsea direct? Chrissie
Lewis
If it goes quieter when you turn it upside down could it be the bearings in the fan or that the screws holding it on are a bit loose? Try tightening them a bit and see if it stops it vibrating as much? Hope you got it sorted!
kittyl
Brinsea advised me to give the fan a firm poke incase it had loosened in transit. I did this before my second lot of eggs went in (the first ones failed to develop) & its slightly less noisy. These eggs are growing so it must be working!
