newcountrygirl
Does anyone here who has a polish frizzle trim the feathers around the eyes so they can see better? My husband says he feels sorry for my little polish frizzle because she can hardly see through the feathers and he is worried she cant see where her food etc is. I know she does eat plenty but he says it isnt fair on her and wants to trim the feathers. What do you think?
mollyripkim
Don't know about the polish but I trimmed the head feathers on one of my silkies, she had so much headgear she couldn't see out properly and was missing out on treats etc. She didn't seem to mind and could definitely see better afterwards. newcountrygirl
Thanks for that. I think I might give her a little trim too. She definately cant see very well at the moment.
Chortle Chook
I don't think that trimming a Poland's head gear would hurt her in any way, but golly you would have to be careful not to catch her in the eye if she moved suddenly I don't know how relevant it is, but I do know that for dogs who have hair over their eyes, it is not such a good thing to cut it all away as they get used to seeing dimmed light and the sudden sunlight can really affect their eye sight.
