Goosey Lucy
Despite having had the MMR jabs, ES has suspected mumps. There seems to be a lot of cases at the moment, the GPs are swabbing throats and sending samples off for confirmation, so many so that they ran out if swab kits last week. ES is feeling better himself but still has a temperature and swollen neck in one side so he'll be off school for another couple of days at least. Anyone else suffering? Janepie33
Sorry to hear that. I've not heard of anyone having mumps after having the MMR. Wonder why the vaccine didn't work?
Goosey Lucy
Apparantly it's 90% effective and he won't get it as severely. The GPs are trying to determine if all the kids have mumps or something called Paramumps. All I know is his temperature is still bobbing up and down. Ain't Nobody Here
Poor boy . Mumps was the one childhood illness I really remember being horrible .
Goosey Lucy
Thanks ANH, he's not too poorly thank goodness. He seems to be one of those kids that gets everything. He also had measles a few years ago. I'm beginning to wonder if there was a problem with one or both of the jabs he was given

Goosey Lucy
Thank you Redbug and DM. He's doing ok, I just need to get his temperature properly under control. I've emailed his maths teacher about some work and as he's missing an important test tomorrow he'll be sitting it at home under test conditions
